DANNEMORA, N.Y. - New York State Police say a man stole from himself and his neighbor on Monday.

Michael Hanson, 35, of Dannemora, N.Y., is accused of burglarizing his residence and selling his own belongings. He then is accused of breaking into a neighboring home on two separate occasions, stealing and selling money, tools, and rifles acquired during the burglary.

Hanson is charged with 2nd degree burglary, 3rd degree burglary, and making a false written statement. He was arraigned and was remanded to the Clinton County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. He is due back in court in September.

New York State Police say they have recovered several items Hanson stole and sold, but are still looking for other property. Anyone with information is asked to contact New York State Police at (518)-563-3761.
