PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The city of Plattsburgh is gearing up for a big celebration this fall and they need your help.

Organizers are getting ready for the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Plattsburgh fought in 1814.  It was a pivotal win for New York and Vermont troops in the War of 1812.

For the anniversary, organizers plan on adding new events, a musical and even a naval battle re-enactment.

Planners say they need more money to make it happen.

The price of an admission button is going from $10 to $15 to help pay for the celebration.

"We encourage not only the contributors, the sponsors, the people who are going to buy that button," Event Organizer Kit Booth said. "That button is a huge amount a huge part of our fundraising activities and we really need people to step forward."

In a typical year the organization committee spends $80,000 on the battle celebration.  This year they expect it to be around $170,000.
