Police: Man Arrested For Damaging, Stealing NYSEG Property

PERU, N.Y. - New York State Police say they arrested a man for damaging and stealing NYSEG property Friday night. 

Jeremy Maulding, 34, of Schuyler Falls, N.Y., is accused of cutting ground wires on a number of poles on Brand Hollow Road, causing power outages. 

Police say wires to 60 utility poles and copper conductors were removed from each pole. Police found and arrested Maulding after a brief foot pursuit. 

Maulding is charged with possession of burglar tools,1st degree criminal tampering, 3rd degree criminal mischief, 4th degree grand larceny, and resisting arrest. 

Maulding was arraigned in the Town of Peru Court. He is lodged at the Clinton County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail, $4,000 bond.
