Police: Man Impaired By Drugs Crashed Car With His Child Inside

SCHUYLER FALLS, N.Y. - The Clinton County Sheriffs Department arrested a man on Thursday, who they say was involved in a crash back in October 2013. The crash happened on Mason Street in Schuyler Falls.

Police say Brad J. Rovito, 31, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., who was impaired by drugs, was traveling 71 MPH in a 35 MPH zone before crashing into another vehicle. The crash caused serious injuries to the other driver. 

Police say Rovito had his child in the car at the time of the crash. 

Rovito is charged with aggravated DWI with child in the vehicle less than 16, DWAI drugs, 2nd degree assault, 2nd degree vehicular assault, endangering the welfare of a child, offering a false written statement, reckless driving, speeding, failure to keep right, back seat passenger age 4-6 inappropriate/no restraint system, and an unsafe tire. 

Rovito was arraigned in the town of Schuyler Falls and was remanded to the Clinton County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secure bond.
