Police: Man Shoots Neighbor's Dog With BB Gun

STAR LAKE, N.Y. - A man is accused of shooting his neighbor's dog with a BB gun. 

New York State Police say Richard LaFave, 47, of Star Lake, N.Y., shot his neighbor's dog with a BB gun after it wandered onto his property. The dog was treated for its injuries and is expected to recover. The dog was shot in the hind and neck.

Police say LaFave lied to an officer when he was initially interviewed about the incident. 

LaFave is charged with injuring an animal and providing a false written statement. 

LaFave is due in court on Tuesday.
