Lake Placid: Senator Gillibrand will discuss legislation to stop the spread of invasive species, and protect New York's waterways. Senator Gillibrand's bill would prevent the importation of potentially harmful species across state lines or into the U.S. by reforming the broken Lacey Act, which has been ineffective in stopping injurious wildlife, such as Asian clam and Zebra and Quagga mussels, from harming New York's waterways.

Saranac Lake: Senator Gillibrand will tour the Trudeau Institute, specifically focusing on their latest Lyme disease research. Senator Gillibrand has introduced legislation to combat the growing epidemic of Lyme disease in the North Country, across New York, and around the country. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), New York State had 19,543 confirmed cases of Lyme disease between 2007 and 2011.

Senator Gillibrand is advocating in support of the Adirondack Museum's request for funding through the North Border Regional Commission that will help the Museum develop an additional outdoor recreational experience for its visitors, creating new jobs and serving as a catalyst for increased tourism, community revitalization and sustainability of support services throughout the region.
