HEBRON, NH - New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol says a 12 year-old girl has died after being struck by a powerboat on Newfound Lake in the area of Cilley's Point in Hebron.
Marine Patrol got the call close to 8:30 Monday morning about a serious boating accident.
According to NHSP's Marine Patrol, Zoe Anderson, 12, had been learning how to slalom ski on a '20 Cobalt powerboat being operated by her father, Sherwood Anderson.
According to a media release, the father got distracted after the wind blew his hat from his head.
During that time, Marine Patrol says Anderson placed the boat in neutral, but passed over the top of the girl and caused serious injuries to her torso.
Marine Patrol says the boat was traveling at a low speed during these events.
The girl was helped out of the water and CPR was initiated, but efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.
Marine Patrol says the girl's mother and 14 year-old sister were also on the boat when the incident occurred.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone who may have further information related to this accident or who may have witnessed this crash is encouraged to contact Sergeant Joshua Dirth at 603-293-2037 or by email at Joshua.firstname.lastname@example.org
