Parent.co Shares a Back to School Tradition to Start Now

COLCHESTER, Vt. - For kids, going back to school is often a drag, but for parents it can be a very exciting and emotional time.

Parent.co, a parenting blog, has a way to make this time of year especially memorable.

Trending on its site is an article about a father named Kevin Scruggs. Scruggs spent the last 12 years filming his daughter Mackenzie on her first day of school. Each year he would ask her a series of questions, and then he compiled them into a keepsake video.

Parent.co’s article expands on this father’s brilliant idea. You can find tips on how to make your own keepsake video to document your child’s progress through school.

“It’s really fun to kind of watch this girl grow up in the video and then how her motivations change during the years, and in the end the dad always ends with ‘I love you’,” Justin Martin of Parent.co explained.

Another article bringing a lot of insight to parenting is one called “Mindful Parenting: How to Respond Instead of React.”

“Being mindful as a parent sounds super easy but it’s a lot harder to execute,” Martin said.

The article goes step by step through how to set emotions aside and react in a more careful way whenever your kid does something wrong or makes you upset. You can read it here
