PLATTSBURGH, NY - Actor and director Ben Stiller is having some fun in the North Country!
Stiller tweeted Thursday, "Really having a great time here in the #NorthCountry #Plattsburgh, #Dannemora and #Malone. Thanks to everyone who have been so welcoming."
Stiller is in town, shooting the Showtime limited series, "Escape at Dannemora."
The series is based on the 2015 New York Prison Break.
Hundreds of people tried out for the series a few weeks ago, because Stiller wants to cast locals at the extras.
Plattsburgh Town Supervisor Michael Cashman got to meet the movie star Wednesday night.
Mayor Colin Read says he hasn't met Stiller yet, but he's excited about all the buzz around the community.
Thursday, he told Local 22 & Local 44 News about a few more potential filming locations.
"What I hear is that they may be using my office for the District Attorney's Office for the movie, so I'll be very excited about that, and they're using a lot of different sites around the city and including one of our local bars for filming too, so I'm very excited about that as well," said Read.
