Plattsburgh Police: Two Arrested for 170 bags of Fentanyl

Plattsburgh, NY - Plattsburgh police announced on Thursday two people were arrested after an investigation found 170 bags of fentanyl.  Officials say it happened Tuesday on I-87 near Plattsburgh.

Ekeem Williams, 25, of Schenectady, and Franciene Smith, 46, of Duanesburg, tried to hide the drugs, by throwing the bags out of the car as officers approached, according to police.

Authorities say Williams is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with evidence, and Smith is charged with conspiracy and tampering with evidence.

Williams is being held on $50,000 bail, Smith was released and will be back in court June 29th.
