Police: Man Accused of Downtown Burlington Stabbing

Burlington, Vt. - Burlington Police say a man was stabbed in the neck on Tuesday night in the downtown Burlington area. 

According to police, a fight between three men started in City Hall Park when Connor Lucas, 28, a Burlington transient, brought out a sharp weapon and cut the hand of a man that was trying to break up the fight.

Police say the fight then moved to the area of Church Street and Main Street were Lucas reportedly used the weapon to cut the throat of the victim and then took off on foot. 

Authorities say Lucas was arrested by police in Battery Park. 

According to police, Lucas is being held on $20,000 bail and is being arraigned on Wednesday.  Police say Lucas has an extensive criminal history for a wide range of arrests including awaiting a sentencing on charges of domestic assault and violation of conditions of release.

Police say the victim was transported to UVM Medical Center where he had surgery on a severed vein and is in stable condition.
