POLICE: N. Pomfret Mother Tried to Sell Drugs with Children in her Vehicle

HARTFORD, Vt. - A 32-year old North Pomfret mother is accused of trying to sell several grams of crack cocaine with her children in the car.

 

Hartford police say Stephanie Hewitt fled into a residence, leaving her three small children behind in the vehicle, when police tried to confront her after witnessing her attempt to conduct a drug sale.

 

Hewitt was in the possession of 3.5 grams of crack cocaine, according to police.

 

She faces several charges: possession and sale of crack cocaine, 3 counts of cruelty to a child, violation of conditions of release, unlawful trespass into an occupied dwelling, impeding officers, assault on an officer, and resisting arrest.

 

The children were turned over to the father of one of the children.
