Police: Transient man Assaults Burlington Business Owner

Burlington, Vt. - Burlington Police say on Saturday a transient man was arrested for assaulting a business owner on North Winooski Ave.

Police say Michael Reynolds, 40 is accused of punching Brett Richland of Burlington in the chest after Reynolds walked into the restaurant and said he was the property owner.  Reynolds was asked to leave.

According to police, Reynolds has a vast criminal history that includes almost 900 contacts with police since 2011.  He has been arrested over 100 times and has 31 criminal convictions including previous assault charges. 

A media release says Reynolds has received over 50 municipal ordinance tickets for infractions that include outstanding fines that exceed $10,000.

Reynolds was charged with simple assault and was arraigned earlier this week.  He was released on pretrial conditions.
