Police: Vermont Doctor Charged With Prescription and Medicaid Fraud

Rutland Town, Vt. - Dr. Mark Logan, the owner of Green Mountain Family Medicine, was arrested Monday on 35 counts of prescription fraud and 6 counts of Medicaid fraud, according to Vermont State Police.

Officials said a joint investigation between Vermont State Police Drug Diversion Investigators, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Vermont Board of Medical practices started in January 2016.

The investigators found that Logan used employee medical records and patient profiles to order drugs for his own use, stated a release from Vermont State Police. Police also stated that Logan altered employee records to hide the fraud.

It is also believed that Logan also had employees "call in" regulated drug prescriptions for each other and then took the prescriptions for either himself or a family member, said authorities.

Logan voluntarily gave up his license to practice medicine in Vermont and his DEA license to prescribe regulated drugs in June 2016, according to officials.

Logan is not currently practicing medicine and will appear in the Rutland District Court-Criminal Division next week.
