Police: Vermont Woman Dies in Car Crash in Killington

Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors

Killington, Vt. - Police are investigating a deadly crash on Route 100 in Killington.

Officials say they were called just before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday to a single-car crash with entrapment.  Detra Coltey Mailhiot, 63, of Rochester, Vt. was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center, where she died, according to officials.  The driver only had minor injuries.

A preliminary investigation found Joseph Mailhiot, 40, of Rochester, Vt. was heading north at an unknown speed and went off the road, according to a release from police.  The car hit several trees, before coming to a stop.

Authorities say speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors.

Anyone who saw the crash, or was in the area around the time, is asked to call Killington police.
