POWNAL, VT- In Pownal, Vermont, a woman is charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty.

Saturday morning, Vermont State Police said they searched the home of 59-year-old Pua Thompson and took three neglected cats.

This all stemmed from a call they got Friday from Second Chance Animal Shelter in Arlington.

A family had turned in three other cats that were not in good health.

The family said a woman in the Alta Gardens Trailer Park had been giving away sick and neglected cats to children in the area.

State troopers said Pua Thompson has been released, but cannot own anymore animals and must comply with unannounced checks on her home.
