President Barack Obama signed a bill Friday, which would require labeling genetically modified foods.
But, it could preempt Vermont’s law that went into effect at the first of the month.
The USDA has two years to develop regulations to implement it.
In the meantime, The Vermont Retail and Grocer's Association says labels made for Vermont’s law can be used for the next few years.
In a VRGA statement sent to Local 22 & Local 44 Friday, at least two manufacturers, Campbell's and Mars will continue labeling products, for the time being.
