Celebrating 20 years of teaching children by giving back to Burlington, Vermont.

The kids are all hands on deck, bringing in books to a real "Giving Tree."

Teachers and students at Early Learning Preschool on Maple Street made a "Giving Tree," just like the Shel Silverstein children's book.

The school is hanging free books for people walking by.

"We spent a week learning about friendship and feelings, and the children wanted to figure out a way to give to the community. We had then come up with the idea of the "Giving Tree,"" Christine Leithead, owner and director of the Early Learning Preschool Center, said.

One little boy, Teagan Smith, even brought in books from home.

"To be nice and share books. Because if people don't have money they can take it from the "Giving Tree,"" 5-year-old Teagan Smith said.

Christine says so far, they've given away about 70 books over the past month.

She says students hope to start giving away mittens and hats once the weather gets a little bit cooler.
