Prosecutors: Vermont Man Recieves 25 Years in Prison for Child Exploitation

Burlington, Vt. - The Office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Vermont stated a Barton man has been sentenced to 25 years of prison followed by a lifetime of supervised release for receiving child pornography.

William Allen, 32, pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography in August 2016 and has prior convictions for possessing child pornography and for lewd and lascivious conduct with a child, according to officials.

Allen's sentencing hearing started Tuesday, and the government presented evidence that he sexually abused three children prior to his state arrest, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney for the District of Vermont.

Prosecutors said the court took Allen's prior convictions into account, and because of them, his mandatory minimum was fifteen years in jail.

According to authorities, the court agreed Allen and his wife Kerissa Allen took digital pictures of the abuse of two children, even though the storage media for the images was never found. District Judge Geoffrey Crawford also found Allen urged Kerissa to attempt to take the blame for his child pornography crimes.

Kerissa pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography in February 2016 and received fours years in prison, officials said.
