Waterbury, Vt. - The Radio Vermont Group, home to Waterbury’s WDEV is for sale.
Owner Ken Squier says he hope to sell the group to someone that would keep the group in Vermont hands. “Serving the people of Vermont is what we do. It’s all we’ve ever done,” said Squier.
Radio Vermont is a cluster of stations with WDEV-AM 550 being the original one and one of the first 500 radio stations in the country.
According to a media release, the Radio Vermont Group also owns WLVB-FM 93.9 in Morrisville, WCVT-FM 101.7 in Stowe and WEXP-FM 101.5 in Rutland .
The station’s vice president says there are no staffing or program changes right now.
“This process is likely to take many months and perhaps more than a year to accomplish. No changes to staffing or programming efforts are planned for the foreseeable future. All of our services will continue unabated,” said Executive VP Eric Michaels.
