One Burlington Street is a whole lot brighter Wednesday with the addition of a rainbow crosswalk.

It’s located on South Willard Street at Champlain College. It’s purpose is to celebrate the LGBTQ campus community and increase pedestrian safety.

The bright rainbow pattern will serve as a symbol of inclusiveness on campus while providing a more visible crosswalk.

"There obviously have been a lot of issues nationwide that we grapple with especially on college campuses but I do think that higher education institutions have an opportunity to really take on these challenges head-on,” said Sandy Yusen, Director of Communications Champlain College.

Champlain’s Student Government Association has agreed to fund the permanent project. It will be repainted every year.
