Jericho, Vt. - The rainy weather didn't keep more than 100 kids from playing soccer for a good cause.
A rainy afternoon in Jericho consisted of the 5th Annual Soccer for Soles 3-v-3 Tournament. The tournament raises money and collects donated equipment to support soccer programming in Africa through Soccer Dreams Without Borders.
Soccer For Soles was founded by Ayla York, Emma Forsyth and Devyn Beliveau-Gale in 2012. However, they are seniors in high school now and are getting ready to move on.
"I'm going off to college next year so I won't be as involved as I have been in the past but we every year have been bringing in new year people year to join out committee so they will be taking over larger roles when we leave," Beliveau-Gale said.
The founders of Soccer for Soles have been recruiting girls as young as fifth graders to take over their positions.
As far as the tournament, at least 25 teams showed up to play despite the weather. The event was held at Browns River Middle School.
