BURLINGTON, Vt. - Paddleboarders and spectators descended on Oakledge Park in Burlington Saturday morning to help out lake enthusiasts.
Rainy weather didn’t stop boarders from hitting Lake Champlain for the Stand Up for the Lake event.
There were three races: elite, recreational and the kids race.
Russ Scully, one of the event sponsors and a participant in today’s race, says he’s proud to bring this event to Burlington for its 9th year.
"Stand up paddleboards and paddle racing were just kinda getting popular so the whole race circut thing was kinda developing and we thought it would be fun to showcase Burlington as a venue paddle board race location,” said Scully, of WND&WVS.
The proceeds from Saturday’s event will benefit the Lake Champlain Sailing Center.
