Starbucks Plays off April the Giraffe Mania to promote the Pumpkin Spice Latte

WSYR-TV - Labor Day Weekend marks the unofficial end of summer, and for many consumers, that means it's time to be bombarded with pumpkin everything.

Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Lattes are without a doubt one of the most popular seasonal food-related items available.

This year, the company is trying a different marketing technique for the already popular drink.

Starbucks has posted a Facebook Live stream, keeping fans on their toes as to when they'll announce the Pumpkin Spice Latte's arrival in stores.

The video appears to be mimicking the viral live stream of April the giraffe, which kept the country captivated for months and fans checked in daily to see if April had given birth.

The live stream shows what appears to be an empty animal pen, except for an alarm clock and a pumpkin placed in a nest.

"For the first time ever seen by humans!! The magical arrival of the Pumpkin Spice Latte!! Don’t miss a moment!!" the caption read.

Since then, the pumpkin has been visited by a few furry friends, "farmers" and a mail carrier.  More items are added throughout the day, like a teddy bear and a nightlight.
