Winooski, Vt. - A Vermont celebrity was in Winooski this morning, talking about the importance of science.
2015's Miss Vermont, Alayna Westcom was at Community College of Vermont to demonstrate her signature "elephant toothpaste" experiment. The stop was part of her Success Through STEM tour. Her goal is to speak with more than 10 thousand students in Vermont.
"STEM education is applicable to everything. Every career that you're going to have is going to have a little piece of science, tenchonolgoy engineering or math, somewhere deep down in there. If you don't have the foundation from a STEM education, it'll be harder for you to pursue different careers," said Westcom.
Miss Vermont's stop at CCV was part of the school's Science Week, which runs through Wednesday. The college also hosted a STEM job-fair today, and will have more guest speakers tomorrow.
