Study: More Families Waiting Until End-of-Summer to buy School Supplies

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - As school starts back up for thousands of Central New York students this week, many are waiting until the last minute to buy supplies.

A study by the National Retail Foundation shows most Americans still haven't completed their shopping by early August.

Back-to-school shopping spending is expected to exceed $80 billion dollars in the United States this year.

While school inventory is starting to empty out at many local stores, most shops tend to offer deeper discounts on remaining products during the first full week of September.
