Colchester, Vt. - The Town of Colchester announced Rossetti Beach and Thayer Beach are closed due to high levels of E.coli.
The water is being retested.
People are advised not to swim in the water for the next 24 hours while results come in.
The Town says for Rossetti Natural Area, multiple samples are taken each testing day. If two or more have unsafe E. Coli levels, signs are put up warning visitors of the high levels. The signs stay up until new tests come back with safe counts.
Officials say they do not close beaches, but do inform people of the high E. Coli readings.
