The Christmas Bureau: Keeping Santa alive for underprivileged children

Plattsburgh, NY - Hard to believe that Christmas is less than six weeks away, and those at The Christmas Bureau in Plattsburgh need your help. The not-for-profit has been serving the Clinton County community since the 1950s.

Co-Director Tammy Perrotte Sears says, they typically hand out toys to 700 families in the county.

Their mission, to make sure no child wakes up on Christmas morning with no gifts. This year the organization hopes to provide every child with up to five gifts and a full stocking. Additionally, each family receives a food voucher to purchase items to cook a Christmas dinner.

"Any toy that your child wants, or that your grandchild wants, or that your nieces and nephews want. They're other children that want those same toys. I always say, dolls, and trucks, and Legos, and all the classic stuff," she said.

This years store location hasn't been released yet, but a deal is currently in the works.

According to the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend 682 billion dollars this holiday season.
