The Heat is ON for Late September

We spoke with residents on how they feel about the warm weather

Burlington, Vt. - Church Street is always a busy place during the summer months. But as the calendar changes to fall while the temperatures remain mid-summer like...  We decided to see how residents and visitors feel about these soaring temperatures.

"I love it here, I’ve always loved it here. It's a great town."

Phillis Mazure is visiting Vermont from Michigan and she loves it here in Vermont and loves the warm weather because it brings the best out in the leaves. “The color is coming! I mean the color is here and you're going to get it in the warm weather. You can go up into to the mountains and take one of the trams up into the mountains and look and all the panoramic views behind. It's great!”

But some weren't as happy to see the thermometer soars this late in the year.

"I don't like sweating" said Sarah Robinson a Burlington Resident. We all can relate to that...

She say "I like the sunshine but I wish it was ten degrees cooler"

Sarah Robinson says she’s ready for the leaves to change, the chillier weather and everything else that comes with fall. When I told her it was going to be near 90 degrees this weekend she said "oh great"

Tomorrow is the first day of fall but temperatures really aren’t feeling like it. Average temperature for this time of year is around 68 degrees.

Those few degrees above average are helping businesses who normally thrive during the summer months.

Maeve Zimmer, Assistant General Manager at Burlington Bay Market & Café says that “Since it’s been warmer than usual in these couple of weeks we’ve had a lot more business.” The up-tick in business has helped to put a few more dollars in the bank. The only downside... The lack of help because the all of the college students have gone back to school.

“Usually it slows down in September, usually after Labor Day we slowdown in general but since it’s been like high 70's low 80's it’s going to be like 90 on Sunday it’s been a lot more busy.”

The line for creemes was around the corner today which mean summer is still going strong.
