UPDATE: Police Identify Man Who Died in Canoe Incident In Malletts Bay

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Police have identified the man who died in Malletts Bay Saturday morning in Colchester.

Colchester police say, Christopher Shane Brown, 35, of Charleston, South Carolina died when his canoe overturned off Brickyard Road.

Nicholas Milac, 30, of Charleston, South Carolina and Michael Heeney, 38, of Burlington, were also in the canoe but survived.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene after four hours of searching by Colchester Technical Rescue, Malletts Bay Fire Department, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Vermont State Police dive team.

The canoeists were not wearing life jackets.
