This was the "Sleep Out For The Soldiers" and it was put on by the Kappa Sigma fraternity at UVM. Volunteers slept outside Friday night and collected money from people in passing cars Friday and Saturday.
About 40 members from the chapter took part, as well as 100 others from fellow chapters around the region.
"The huge contribution that's being made by our brothers from other chapters, friends and family, our sponsors, it's been so beneficial to our event and hopefully we'll keep doing so in the future," says Federico Garau, Kappa Sigma fraternity UVM chapter president.
The money raised goes to the Fisher House Foundation, which helps families of wounded veterans.
The fraternity had already raised about $6,000 when we stopped by early Saturday.
