Vermont Companies Need Your Help This Holiday Season

It may seem early, but businesses are actively looking for extra help this holiday season. On the other hand, if you need extra cash for gifts some Vermont stores can help you out.

Vermont Teddy Bear is hiring for the holidays with flexible schedules and a 50% employee discount. Katie Langrock, the Vice President of Operations, said the company plans for the holiday season all year.

"We plan all year round for the next few months so it's really important to have those extra people to execute the holidays," Langrock said.

The Vermont Teddy Bear Company has about 120 core employees and its looking to hire about 4 or 5 times more seasonal employees. That's roughly 400 to 500 people.

Vermont Teddy Bear isn't the only company looking for help. CNN reports UPS hopes to bring on 95,000 seasonal employees nationally. Target wants another 100,000. The GAP is hiring and Marketwatch reports Macy's is looking to hire another 80,000 holiday workers.

Closer to home, Gardener's Supply is hiring in both the call center located in Burlington and the distribution center in Milton.

Sue Snyder the HR Generalist at Gardener's Supply said, "We're roughly hiring around 50 or so seasonal positions."

According to data from the Vermont Labor Department, about 400 retail jobs are added from October to November. Another 400 jobs are added from November to December.
