COLCHESTER, Vt. - Every year on the first Sunday in August, the Vermont Fresh Network holds their primary fundraiser of the year, the Forum Dinner at Shelburne Farms. This year is especially special because VFN is turning 21.
“We’re going to celebrate the way we know how, with lots of local made beverages, lots of beer, local cider, local wine, local distillers, and then we’re going to celebrate all things Vermont,” Ryan Chaffin of Farrel Distributing said.
This Sunday, the Coach Barn at Shelburn Farms will be filled with chefs and specialty food makers, beverage makers and farmers to celebrate a locally made dinner.
“It’s a great dinner, you get to sample everything, you get to vote for your favorite best bite and best sip and it’s a lot of fun,” Helen Labun, the Executive Director of the Vermont Fresh Network said.
Vermont Fresh Network began in 1996 to help support farmer and chef connections in order to strengthen the local food economy. Last year alone culinary members of VFN purchased over $45 million in Vermont ingredients. The organization boasts about 300 members of both chefs and farmers.
