LeFlore County, M.S. -

Local 22 & Local 44 has confirmed one of the marines killed in a military plane crash in Mississippi was a Vermonter.

Brendan Johnson, a 1989 Colchester High graduate, died alongside 15 others when the C-130 went down.

His father, Kevin Johnson of Colchester, says his son enlisted right after graduating from Johnson State College and was already thinking about retirement.

Johnson served as a Gunnery Sergeant and was a crew member on this flight.

While the Department of Defense has not yet released the names, Mr. Johnson said the family was told on Tuesday.

Johnson leaves behind a wife, a brother and his parents.
