Vermont State Police: New York Man Injured After Rock Quarry Explosion

Danby, Vt. - Vermont State Police say a Granville, New York man was injured after some blasting caps exploded at the VT Quarries in Danby.

Officials say the incident happened on Wednesday morning, when Kenneth Williams, 51, was trying to dispose of some blasting caps.

Police say Williams was wearing safety glasses at the time and was treated at Rutland Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.

According to police, the Vermont State Police Bomb Squad was able to safely dispose of the remaining blasting caps.

Officials say penalties could be pending against the VT Quarry since Williams was not trained to dispose of the explosives.
