ST. ALBANS, Vt.- As sugaring season wraps up the 48th annual Vermont Maple Festival kicks off in St. Albans.
The festival kicked off Friday with an opening ceremony at noon. After that the festival was in full swing with many events such as tastings, demonstrations, and tours to name a few.
Sugar makers were also hard at work boiling syrup to make fresh maple products to sell such as fudge, jams, and maple candies.
"This is just a great opportunity for them to bring in their syrups, have them be in the judging for blue ribbons. And also just showcase to the public what they do and to share with people what goes into making maple syrup," said Matt Gordon, Executive Director of the Vermont Maple Sugar Makers’ Association.
The newest addition to the festival this year is maple beverage tasting. It features Vermont made adult beverages that are made with Vermont pure maple syrup!
The event is on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Twiggs restaurant in downtown St. Albans and for those 21 and over its five dollars to taste test the products.
