ADDISON, Vt. - The selectboard chair for the Town of Addison who is accused of discriminating against a lesbian couple calls the charges "slanderous and unfounded."

Right now, Jeff Kauffman is being represented by an attorney for charges related to his job as chair. The couple accuses him and the town of unfair and illegal decisions because they are lesbians.

But Kauffman is also fighting personal claims and he's responded to the lawsuit.

In court filings, he says he repeatedly disagrees with it and says he has never "engaged in discriminatory actions."

He goes on to ask the court to drop the charges and award him monetary damages because of the couple's actions.
