BARRE CITY, Vt. - A Barre Firefighter is accused of embezzlement after an audit was conducted.

Vermont State Police say the audit found a number of internet and suspicious charges.

Police learned that Union President Jeffrey Cochran, 34, of Barre City, Vt., was in control of the union's finances.  Cochran, also a lieutenant with the department, is accused of fraudulently taking money for his own personal use.

Barre City Fire Chief says Cochran is no longer working with the department.

Cochran is due in court at the end of April.
