The school is looking to break apart its land on North Avenue.
Half would be used to develop more of a college campus including a quad. The rest would be sold to build homes, family housing, and senior housing.
"We were looking for a development that would not be simply handing over 16 acres and putting in executive mansions but really to develop a neighborhood that is keeping in the feel of Burlington," says Christine Plunkett, president of Burlington College.
The plan would create hundreds of housing units and cost upwards of $50-million.
Profits from the sale would help the college pay off debt. Planning for the housing project could start later this year.
