CABOT, Vt. - A Cabot custodian has been recognized as Vermont's very best.

The announcement came at the Vermont School Custodians and Maintenance Association conference earlier Thursday in White River Junction.

Peter Ackerman was recognized as the 2014 Vermont custodian of the year.

We're told Ackerman "goes above and beyond the call of duty", even waking up in the middle of the night during a storm to check for flooding.

Nominations were open for anyone who helps benefit their school in the last five years.
