All buses in Chittenden County are operating today. After eight months of contract negotiations, and a 19 hour meeting Saturday alone, an agreement was reached. CCTA bus drivers will not strike today.

The threat of a strike is still looming, however, but for now, CCTA bus drivers will be behind the wheel.

This eight month long battle was never over pay. It was always about scheduling. They've been asking for better scheduling because right now, most drivers work a split shift. First during the busy morning commute, then again, at night, with large gaps of time in the middle. Drivers say they also regularly work 12 to 15 hour days.

Details of the proposed contract haven't been released, but drivers will be taking a vote Wednesday. Again, an agreement to take a vote has been reached, but an agreement on a contract has not yet been reached.
