Colchester Police Officer Charged with DUI
By Joe Gullo
COLCHESTER, Vt. - A Colchester Police officer is being charged with DUI.
A press release says Colchester Police Department received a report of a male and female having a verbal dispute in the parking lot of Spare Time Sports Bar late Sunday night. Witnesses told police the woman was reluctant to get into the car, but eventually the two left. They were reported traveling erratically north on U.S. Route 7 toward the intersection of Blakely Road. Colchester Police located the vehicle on Jason Drive.
Police identified the driver as Colchester Police Officer 36-year-old Jeremy Wyskiel. The woman was not injured in the incident.
Since Wyskiel is an officer with the Colchester Police Department, Vermont State Police were called to investigate the suspected DUI. Troopers arrested Wyskiel without incident and was later released on a citation to appear in Court in April.
Colchester Police Chief Jennifer Morrison provided the following statement:
“In the early morning hours of March 25th, the Colchester Police Department requested the assistance of the Vermont State Police with a suspected DUI incident involving a Colchester Police Officer. Vermont State Police is handling the criminal inquiry into this matter. Colchester Police Department is actively investigating a personnel matter related to this incident and will have no further comment at this time other than to offer the following public information: Jeremy Wyskiel has served as a Colchester Police Officer since September of 2008 and is currently on administrative leave.”
