BURLINGTON, Vt. - The price for the Winooski one hydroelectric generating facility has come up cheaper than the city of Burlington expected.

At Monday night's city council meeting, members are set to vote on whether to buy it. The price comes in around $16 million dollars. The city was willing to pay more than $20 million.

"This dam will supply about 8% of the energy usage for the city and it would really bring an equal amount of renewable energy that we are generating or purchasing to Burlington's consumption," Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger said.

If the council approves the purchase, city voters will make the final decision in March.
