PUTNEY, Vt. - A DMV inspector discovered a tractor trailer leaking propane during inspection on Tuesday. I-91 near exit 4 was closed for a few hours while crews tried to stop the leak.

A press release says during the inspection a cargo tank tractor trailer operated by Osterman Propane, LLC., released approximately 8 gallons of Liquid Petroleum Gas (propane) in a failed pipeline. The cargo tank was loaded with 8,300 gallons of propane.

The DMV says it took approximately 2.5 hours to stop the leak. Once the leak was stopped, the vehicle was escorted to Bellows Falls where the propane was loaded off the trailer.

No one was injured during the incident and there were no environmental impacts.

The truck was coming from Claremont, N.H. and was headed to Sunderland, Mass.
