BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Vermont Health Department and Agency of Agriculture will be holding an informational meeting on Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) on April 10.

A press release says the meeting will discuss plans to trap and test mosquitos and conduct surveillance for human and animal illness throughout the summer.

Last summer, two horses died in Franklin County from EEE. It was also the first time EEE was detected in the northwest corner of the state.

“We want people to come to the meeting and ask questions,” said Erica Berl, an infectious disease epidemiologist. “We want them to know there are actions they can take to reduce their risk of infection.”

The meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Swanton Village Complex (120 First Street).
