WEATHERSFIELD, Vt. - Vermont State Parks are getting ready for what should be a busy season.

Wilgus State Park opened Monay, the first of many, of course. It's located on Route 5 in Weathersfield, along the Connecticut River. Even with the new fee increase, leaders don't expect a decline in visitors.

"We have about 450,000 camper nights each year," Craig Whipple Director of Vermont State Parks, said. "That's about standard for us. So that means, 450,000 times somebody stays over night at a Vermont State Park in the summer time."

The next parks to open up are Jamaica and Grand Isle on May 9th.
