BURLINGTON, Vt. - There's major concern about heroin going around Chittenden County. Fletcher Allen says since Tuesday nine people have overdosed.

It typically takes a couple of months to see that number. None have died. Two people were treated pre-hospital and one of the nine was admitted.

Hospital staff say they are very concerned someone could die. That's why they are putting this warning out.

"We know there's some very dangerous heroin out there right now," Dr. Stephen Leffler, of Fletcher Allen Health Care, said. "If you are thinking about quitting now is a great time to start. There is help we can give you to make withdrawl less serious. There is never safe heroin but we know it's less safe than normal right now."

Staff are concerned the people needed multiple doses of Narcan, which makes them think this batch of heroin is much stronger than most users are used to.
