Fletcher Allen Meets E-Records Requirements

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont's largest hospital hits a major milestone - when it comes to electronic medical records.

Fletcher Allen Health Care has met quality, safety and efficiency stands. It's one of only 78 hospitals in the nation to meet this stage two.

These standards are part of the federal government's center for Medicare and Medicaid services meaninful use program.

It encourages all health care providers to make the switch to electronic health records.

EMR systems are said to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes because less errors are made.

It's a nearly $57 million project.
