Green Mountain Power Preparing for Snow Storm

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Green Mountain Power is preparing for Wednesday - Thursday's winter storm.

A press release says Green Mountain Power is preparing to position workers in areas expected to be hit the hardest. There will also be contract line workers and tree trimmers available to assist Green Mountain Power crews restore power as quickly as possible. 

“The buildup of several inches of wet, heavy snow brings down trees and branches onto powerlines,” said Dorothy Schnure, Green Mountain Power spokesperson. “We are intensely preparing now so that when outages occur they can be restored as quickly as possible.”  

Customers can sign up for text service to report outages and get updates. Green Mountain Power says users can text REG to 46788 or GMPVT, or signup online at www.greenmountainpower/textalerts. Customers can also report outages by calling 1-888-835-4672 or by visiting Green Mountain Power's website
