ST. ALBANS, Vt. - An inmate at the Northwestern State Correctional Facility is accused of assaulting two officers within a week.

Vermont State Police say on May 21, Daniel Mitchell, 21, punched Correctional Officer Michael Trombly in the face after being asked to take down an object covering the window in the door of his cell.

On May 27, Mitchell again covered the window of the door to his cell. Police say when officers entered to remove the object, Mitchell punched Correctional Officer Ross Boudreau in the head.

Both officers were treated at the facility with minor injuries.

Mitchell is charged with two counts of assault on a correctional officer. He is due in court in July.
